Rain, Rain, Go Away! Please

Lately the rain has been a bit of a pain and caused some flooding in our lil' shop
Inspired by the new Cotton & Steel fabric ranges I decided I should make this quilt asking the Rain to Go Away. I am really happy wit the way it turned out especially the Yuwa stripe I used for binding, it adds a real sense of fun and carnivale
I love these cute girls and the cloud quilting detail adds to their story
clouds and birds

I love the cartoon vibe here
This is the back of the quilt
I used the Nani Iro double gauze combined wit some fabrics from the front. This calico coloured tone on tone spot is so handy. Available in the store now

Japanese Windmills

A couple of blogs ago I posted some pics of these gorgeous Japanese fabrics that had arrived into the store.....
This week I put together this busy quilt top
Selecting three tonal elements... Background, dark windmill blades and windmill centres
The method is as simple as string piecing then cutting 45 degree angles
The result was these Japanese Windmills which is a bit of a departure from my normal improv style quilts... However I enjoy the combination of colours and the movement that this design creates....
