Gorgeous new Japanese fabrics arrived into the store

These gorgeous new Japanese fabrics arrived into the store this week....
I have been waiting for the arrival of this fun and frivolous double gauze... I just love the quirkiness of the giraffe in this novelty print and I have no doubt that this gender neutral fabric will fly off the shelf. We will be making some of our deluxe baby wraps, face cloths and kerchief style bibs. I also think a romper would be pretty darn cute too....
Many customers have been asking for the 100% Linen (shown at the top) in a dark gun metal grey. The colour of this drapey Japanese cloth is perfect for frocks, tops and shorts. The city scape (bottom) is another beautiful double gauze. Dark Charcoal with hints of seafoam green and citrine are the colours they have printed on a soft dove grey background.....
Cool car prints are always extremely popular at Materialise especially these cool retro prints with Red London buses and VW beetles.... Iconic
We also get a lot of requests for Apples. This graphic style print is very Eric Carle aka The Hungry Caterpillar.... Printed on a linen/cotton blend I am def thinking some tea towels, napkins, aprons or pot holders might look pretty cute in my kitchen.... Perfect also for cute novelty quilts or as a backing for a floor quilt...
I also couldn't go past these cute Animalia prints for novelty quilts, especially since it can be so difficult to find groovy prints for little boys...
We are constantly asked for Elephants, Monkeys, Giraffes and Zebras and here they are.....
So come in and see us in the store and we can help you put together a great selection of co-ordinating colours....

Rifle Paper and Co comes to Materialise

These whimsical foxes have just arrived and are proving to be very popular
I put this simple checker board style quilt together using a selection of co-ordinating plaids, stripes and spots.
Rifle Paper and Co designed this fabulous selection of prints for Cotton and Steel
This stunning Linen/Cotton blend is a slightly heavier weight and perfect for home decor projects.
This sweet horse print and the metallic (top left) are beautiful
These prints are iconic
Flamingoes are def trending right now
People have been going crazy for these cute cats
This week these new babies arrived.... This print is gorgeous... I'm loving the cute bat!
This is a large print sold as a panel which measures 60cms
Here are some great novelty prints also from Cotton and Steel that are perfect for gender neutral quilts
When I saw this delicate print which is a mushroom grey colour printed on a crisp white cotton. I immediately thought of sheets or linen for a new baby's cradle or cot...
These stunning French fabrics are also new into the store
The vibrant colours and clarity in the printing can be attributed to the digital printing method used
The first day these fabrics arrived each person who came in left wit at least one piece. So don't miss out...

Rain, Rain, Go Away! Please

Lately the rain has been a bit of a pain and caused some flooding in our lil' shop
Inspired by the new Cotton & Steel fabric ranges I decided I should make this quilt asking the Rain to Go Away. I am really happy wit the way it turned out especially the Yuwa stripe I used for binding, it adds a real sense of fun and carnivale
I love these cute girls and the cloud quilting detail adds to their story
clouds and birds

I love the cartoon vibe here
This is the back of the quilt
I used the Nani Iro double gauze combined wit some fabrics from the front. This calico coloured tone on tone spot is so handy. Available in the store now

Japanese Windmills

A couple of blogs ago I posted some pics of these gorgeous Japanese fabrics that had arrived into the store.....
This week I put together this busy quilt top
Selecting three tonal elements... Background, dark windmill blades and windmill centres
The method is as simple as string piecing then cutting 45 degree angles
The result was these Japanese Windmills which is a bit of a departure from my normal improv style quilts... However I enjoy the combination of colours and the movement that this design creates....

New Cotton and Steel Fabrics

we have got a great selection of New Cotton and Steel fabrics in the store
Including this subtle yet fun collection.
This selection are mostly from a range called 'Measure twice cut once'
I drew inspiration from this simplicity pieced cot quilt circa 1900. Altering the borders so as to create a more modern feel

These Liberty Classics arrived this week
Plus we have a really good selection of hard to find rare Liberty designs
Including these great colours
This red one is my fave pick... the colour and sheen on this cloth is Alive
