New Fabric Arrivals from Japan

New this week we have a range of limited edition Japanese Indigo fabrics that are block printed and wax dyed.
These prints are quite different and varied from what I normally see and would make amazing cushions and quilts. We have an assortment of jelly rolls, fat 1/4 packs and cut lengths still available. Stock is limited and cannot be repeated.

Also new are these gorgeous nautical themed prints for little boys. Very classic and not too baby.
New colours in the Japanese Linen spots have arrived.
Gorgeous new petite floral prints with have a seersucker finish. Seersucker has proven to be very popular, the last time we had a similar cloth it was snapped up. These colours are so soft and pretty and have already been a big hit amongst customers for quilt backings and clothing...
Classic and cute, this sweet and versatile little print has rejoined us in a fresh new colour palette.

Lately I've been trawling pintrest and seen lots of cool quilts using plain colours in all manner of designs. I have an urge to do a drunkards path. New in store is this amazing range of colours of couture cotton
A lovely and fresh selection of new buttons has also just arrived. There are some very special ones too. I personally love the glittery buttons and the diamante hearts.

When Dreams Come True

62 bolts of New Season Liberty Classics have just arrived!!!!!!!!!
In Rich, Beautiful, Jewelled Colours....... plus many more beautiful colours for your enjoyment.
I get asked a lot for Liberty's in the blue shades so I have co-ordinated a lovely selection to cater for these people. Above is a small selection of what we have available.
This little grouping has a few of my personal favourites, I can't wait to get stuck into cutting these precious gems but at the moment I am busy co-ordinating packs and jelly rolls. You should see my house, every available chair, cushion, couch and table top has strips of Liberty draped over it as I decide which colours work the best together as a story....
These beautiful pinks are heaven sent. Betsy in this new pink and red colourway is very special. Elizabeth is a new design (sprays of roses shown here in two colourways) and is also top on my list of favourite fabrics.
All of this would not have been possible without a select few key people and I would like to thank them. I would also like to thank the Strawberry Thief for seeing the potential in Materialise and in myself with regards to Liberty and working together with us as a TEAM to bring these gorgeous Liberty fabrics to you.
It has been a long time coming and as Mum use to say "Good Things Come to Those who Wait".
My Mum definitely had fairy blood so I know she is an Angel, so Mum if you had any part in making this happen for us you know how grateful I am. I Love you so much and I miss you every day.

New Japanese Ranges

We have had a diverse range of japanese fabrics arrive over the past few weeks. Here are a few to peak your interest.
This very classic and stylish french floral by Yuwa is so versatile with beautiful wedgewood blue and french navy and 10 different floral designs within the piece. I couldn't resist it and am whipping up some napkins for home that way I'll see it everyday and can admire it.
These two gorgeous Naomi's by Yuwa are also back by popular demand.
We got some nice new pink and blue florals perfect for little girls dresses, especially smocked frocks!
the grey floral is a beautiful double gauze which is extremely soft. Liberty needs some new pj's so I think this is the one.
This little selection of Yuwa fabrics compliments a lot of the Japanese fabrics we already have in the store.
Fresh and fun, this 1930's print in 4 good colour shades that will match with 1930's that you have in your stash.
Old Roses by Yuwa. I'm in love with the grey rose which gives off hues of mushroom. This cloth is superfine and is going to make some great cushions.
Classic Yuwa florals and paisley's that you know and love....
We selected these gorgeous little prints for children's clothing. This new Japanese brand D's Selection is proving to be extremely versatile. The cherry print is divine. The surface of this cloth has a beautiful sateen lustre and the colour is a cross between navy and dark purple, it's very rich....
Great co-ordinates for the boys. This check is really cool and will be very useful in all kinds of projects.
Multi coloured spots for girls and boys this time. Great as a co-ordinate or for backings on a baby's quilt.
We have also increased our colour selection of Aurifil threads in the 50 weight for free motion quilting and the 12 weight which I love using for embroidery.
We hope to see you soon.

For the Boys

Just arrived for the boys.... This gorgeous little japanese whale print and friends is proving to be popular
Here it is mixed in a Boho Quilt using natural linen and 'Grunge' the soft red colour
Shelby is nesting in a major way and made several of these little pram quilts using a liberty 9 patch mixed with a beautiful japanese linen.
Shelby used the 100% wool wadding because it is light and fluffy and great for babies and hand quilted it with love for maximum softness and quilty goodness. She used a beautiful sky blue aurifil thread (16w/red spool). Use this thicker purl thread for a more pronounced quilting look.
Fresh new fun florals also arrived. Perfect for pyjama bottoms or little tops for girls. I have both on the go...
Lots of fun and new fat quarter packs to be found.....

Lovely Linens

Gorgeous new Linens arrived into the store this week. These beautiful yarn dyed fabrics come in Lipstick, Chambray and Apple (shown) and are also available in Indigo and Kiwi (not shown) and are the perfect weight and drape for my latest little pattern which is pictured a bit lower down.
This very classic (almost country, albeit cool country) yarn dyed melange in a mini hounds tooth check also arrived today. I've been looking for this fabric for about 4 years now (it started out as a customer request and ended up being a personal quest for me to find it). I really only wanted the red but ended up with green, pink and blue because it would have been rude not too.... Plus they are seriously good basic colours that will go with so much and will prove to be very useful in both quilts and clothing.
We are suckers for strawberry prints as you already know, if we find fabrics that make strawberry prints look even more amazing we are definitely ordering them too. So we had to have these cute new retro pin dots in dark pink and chocolate/charcoal.
Back in stock is all these gorgeous linens we stocked about 2 years ago. Especially lovely for clothing we have had many, many requests for this cloth to come back so here it is girls.....!
Here is my latest pattern.... "Sweet Swing Top" essentially its a big circle that is cut on the bias. The pattern is currently in work and I'm hoping will be in the shop by this Saturday. It's very versatile and looks great with shorts and boots too. (But ofcourse, everything looks great with boots!)
I want one in my size!!!!!
This is one of my favourite quilts made by Lizzet. It uses a beautiful yarn dyed linen as the background fabric which I found really inspiring.

Sadly Lizzet will leave us this week to return home to the UK with her husband Tony. Lizzet and I met in the shop one day when I was heavily pregnant with my little Liberty girl. After chatting about life and selecting fabric together for her cushion project I think I pretty much hired Lizzet on the spot, feeling confident she would fit right in with our customers and the relaxed style that is Materialise. Lizzet then took on the running of the store so effortlessly whilst I went on maternity leave which gave me a lovely sense of peace. The store could not have been in better hands.

Over the past 24 months a beautiful, respectful and honest working relationship and friendship has grown between Lizzet, Hilda and myself, resulting in more being achieved at Materialise than ever before. The journey has been amazing and I am so grateful and appreciative that I and all the customers who visit us at the shop were given the gift of meeting, working and sharing the creative input of such an amazing, talented, yet humble and gentle soul.

Lizzet, your daily presence will be very much missed in our little store that you have so gracefully and gently nutured to become so much more than what it already was. Thank you for being such a stylish soul. God Bless

New Japanese Shipment and don't forget about our Super Sale!!

Look at these beautiful new colours that have just arrived in store at Materialise
The ever popular linen spot is available in new colours. A lovely selection of soft violet, mushroom, grey & pink tones. (Blue is also now back in stock.)
We are increasing our range of linen based fabrics, especially these very wearable pieces for ladies wanting to make skirts and dresses.
Three new colours have been added to this beautiful linen blend which many found very appealing in our last shipment: In stock is buttery ochre yellow, duck egg blue w/ a grey wash, rusty red & indigo.
Green Apples, a funky stripe & pretty little florals (especially lovely for a little girls frock!)
We are also gradually expanding the range of colours for the Japanese lawn as it's popularity builds...

For those looking for something a little softer and prettier for little girls will love these too.
More cool elephants. This cloth is amazing, it is a 15%Linen/ Cotton blend. A slightly heavier weight, the background is natural linen, however the surface has been brushed giving the cloth the softest most luxurious texture & drape.
I just loved this floral print. it just reminded me of something we had when I was growing up.
Printed on 150cms wide natural linen this home decor cloth has a very rustic wood block feel.
Cushions front and back using the same print & colour would even  look amazing......

Also those wanting stock of the beautiful natural linen that Lizzet used to combine with a Liberty nine patch is now back in stock... Hurry in if you want this fabric as it is already selling fast.
